About us

Our mum has always used her natural creativity. From making clothes for her dolls as a child, clothes for herself as a teenager to making clothes for her daughters as a mother.
She clearly has an eye for Colour, Texture and Form that is timeless,. With a background in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture all of our pieces are inspired by nature. YINKA is a culmination of a life spent creating clothing and outdoor nature spaces that are expressive, playful, yet elegant.
My sister and I wanted to share these creations with the world,  so we started posting pictures of our new jumpers, cardigans, or our new winter hat and glove sets on line. Wearing them to work, or out with friends, we always received compliments, people asking where something was from and how they could purchase one. We began by offering custom made pieces our to friends and family then we realised how we loved the way the items were making the people around us feel.  How delighted they were with these incredibly unique, one-off pieces perfect for many occasions. So here we are. Enjoy and Thank you for supporting us!

How do I care for my Yinka piece?

For more information please see our page on 'Caring for your Yinka pieces'

My yinka piece looks slightly different to the image on the website, why is this?

Due to the handmade and made-to-order nature of the piece, each piece may slightly vary – pls don't worry. Any variations or unevenness in the design are characteristics of their unique handmade nature. Even more reason to love your yinka pieces!

Forever pieces need loving, tender care! 💕

We recommend you wash on a very delicate wash cycle and dry flat. Use the 'spot cleaning' technique if you have any small stains on your knitwear. To spot clean, damp a cloth with cold or warm water and pat the area. Please be extra careful if you are spot cleaning your knitwear piece - do not use soap or rub the area, as it may result in felted wool.

Use chunky material hangers and be careful when wearing jewellery that may snag on the wool.

Not suitable for rain or snow!

If you do find any loose pieces of wool, do not be alarmed this can happen. We suggest using sharp scissors to remove any loose bits, or simply tucking them back in.

Any questions please get in touch, we are happy to help!
